Community Agreements

I will show up and choose to be present.

I will speak and hear with truth and love.

I will be open and not attached to outcome.

I will not be a frequent voice.

I will not be right or perfect.

I will critique ideas or behaviors, not people.

I will choose to take a risk.

I will be conscious of my body language.

I will speak from my own experience and my own story.

Please use & share

Our guidelines are influenced by the brilliant work of Speaking Down Barriers, where we learned our practice of facilitating dialogue, and by the writing of Audre Lorde, especially her poem, "A Litany for Survival".

We share these guidelines freely, in the spirit of community care. Use them as they are, adapt them for your context, or let them inspire you to create your own. What matters most is not the words themselves but the spirit behind them: an intention to be present, to listen with care, and to speak with dignity.

If you use these guidelines in your work, we’d love to hear how they serve your community. Together, we can keep building practices that help us survive, connect, and transform.
